Assessment of US and European sanctions against Syria challenges and opportunities

Abstract

The aim of the research is to clarify the importance of understanding the impact of US and European sanctions against the Syrian government on Syrian reality and the lives of citizens, and to analyze the opportunities and challenges posed by these sanctions in the long term.The options available to the Syrian government and the international community to mitigate the negative impact of those sanctions were also evaluated, as were the reasons that prompted their imposition and how they affected the Syrian economy and citizens.The study concluded that these sanctions have effects contrary to the declared objectives of their imposition, with the need to take advantage of the recent US license issued with the aim of mitigating the effects of the earthquake disaster during the period of validity of this license, which is 180 days.
