Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the degree of using digital technology in teaching from the point of view of faculty members in the faculties of Damascus University, Quneitra branch, and to identify the reasons for not using digital technology in teaching among the research sample, in addition to revealing the differences in the use of digital technology in teaching among the research sample according to the variable of gender, academic rank, and experience, the research sample consisted of (25) male and female teachers from the faculty members in the faculties of Damascus University, Quneitra branch. The research followed the descriptive analytical method, and a questionnaire designed by the researchers was used. The most important results reached by the research were: The degree of using digital technology in teaching, research, and publishing among the research sample was moderate. As for the reasons of not using digital technology in teaching, the phrase “lack of the required software infrastructure in the college” came in first place, with a moderate degree of response, while the phrase “The lack of importance of using technical skills in teaching” ranked last with a weak degree of response. It was also shown that there were no statistically significant differences in the using of digital technology by faculty members in teaching, research, and publishing due to the variables of gender, academic rank, and experience, and there were no statistically significant differences in the reasons of why faculty members do not use digital technology in teaching due to the variables of gender, academic rank, and experience. The research concluded with a set of proposals to develop the use of digital technology in teaching, the most important of which are: providing an infrastructure that helps faculty members use digital technology in teaching, developing the capabilities of faculty members and providing them with digital knowledge and skills, and holding training courses on digital technology skills for faculty members, including a course on integrating technology into education for postgraduate students in non-educational colleges to provide them with digital skills to use while carrying out the teaching process.
