Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the role of the University of Damascus in promoting community dialogue among university youth. The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach, using the questionnaire as a tool for collecting data and information related to the following four areas: The first field: the role of the university administration in promoting dialogue between students and groups of society - the second field : the internal and external environment of the university - and the third field: the role of the faculty member in promoting the culture of community dialogue - and the fourth field: the role of university activities in promoting the culture of community dialogue, and the questionnaire was applied to a sample of (100) male and female students from the College of Education, University Damascus:

The research reached the following results:

-Answering the main question: What is the role of the university in promoting a culture of community dialogue among postgraduate students in the Faculty of Education, Damascus University:

The fields of the questionnaire came with an arithmetic mean of 77.52 and a standard deviation of 19.866 with a high degree, and the order of the fields is as follows:

- The first field came in the first rank, paragraph No. (1), which states "the role of the university administration in establishing a culture of dialogue between students and groups of society" with an arithmetic mean of 23.29 and a standard deviation of 5.875 with a high degree.

F- The third field came in second place and paragraph number (3), which states "the role of the faculty member in promoting community dialogue" with an arithmetic mean of 20.76 and a standard deviation of 6.519, with a high score.

F- The fourth field in the third order, Paragraph No. (4), which states “the role of university activities in promoting a culture of community dialogue,” with an arithmetic mean of 15.67 and a standard deviation of 4,366, with a high score.

And - the second field in the last order, paragraph number (2), which states "the internal and external environment of the university and its role in promoting community dialogue" with an arithmetic mean of 11,793 and a standard deviation of 4,997, with a high degree.

The results of the hypotheses were as follows:

1- There are no statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the mean scores of the research sample of postgraduate students for the role of the university in promoting a culture of dialogue in the fields (the first field: the role of the university administration in promoting dialogue between students and groups of society - the second field: The internal and external environment of the university - and the third domain: the role of the faculty member in promoting the culture of community dialogue - and the fourth domain: the role of university activities in promoting the culture of community dialogue) due to the gender variable (male-female).

2- There are no statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the mean scores of the research sample of postgraduate students for the role of the university in promoting a culture of dialogue in the fields (the first field: the role of the university administration in promoting dialogue between students and groups of society - the second field: The internal and external environment of the university and its role in promoting the culture of societal dialogue - and the third field: the role of the faculty member in promoting the culture of societal dialogue - and the fourth field: the role of university activities in promoting the culture of societal dialogue) due to the variable of academic degree (Master - PhD).
